I haven't posted on here in forever... probably because I've been running around like crazy over the past few weeks. I've only got one more day of classes tomorrow and then 2 papers and 1 final before I'm done for the summer. I'm really looking forward to that... it'll be nice to have a few weeks before the summer starts. Maybe I'll be back updating regularly once classes close up next week.. it's just too crazy right now...

Tuesday, April 04, 2006

Here goes nothing... I haven't posted since Wednesday night and plenty has happened between now and then. I'm sitting in my normal Dinosaurs class posting this today, so if I seem distracted, it's because I have a test in here on Thursday and am still not really sure what it is about. So... Thirsty was absolutely amazing... God showed up in a mighty way last Thursday night during the Communion service and I really felt His presence in the room with us. Chris Tomlin played a couple of new songs and Matt brought one... all I have to say is that these guys are writing some more incredible music for the Church and that these songs are absolutely amazing. I can't wait to hear them more once they get released.
So... Friday turned a little crazier than it was supposed to be. Carrie at sixsteps hooked me up with a few comp tickets to the Crowder/Third Day Show in Chattanooga and thus Gabe, Jonathan Howard, and I went up for the show. It was a lot of fun and the only complaint I have is that Third Day didn't play "Consuming Fire!" Other than that, I had a great time with two people who I don't get to hang out with as much anymore as I'd like to.
Finally, the weekend came and went while I worked at InsideOut on Sunday morning and worked on a take home test that my teacher gave me a small extension on since I was at Thirsty. Now, I'm back in the scheme of things at class and Hillsong United is gonna rock the world tonight at 722! Here it comes! I gotta try and pay some attention to this dinosaur stuff... so until later... Things are amazing here as we have finished our first day. My feet ache and I am really tired... so I'm making this quick. Charlie Hall kicked off the conference this afternoon with a great set and Louie spoke. I didn't hear the message yet, but I'm sure it was great. Everybody else was talking about it! David Crowder and the guys played tonight and brought the house down... then Charlie had a coffeehouse as a Late Nite. It was a great time today and I had a good one selling all of the merch. It's going great and I wish everyone reading this could be here. I was working over at the office today and was able to obtain a copy and have not taken it out yet.
1 - Awesome is the Lord Most High - Chris Tomlin
This song is a great way to kick off the album and is a great song of praise just saying how great God is. I think the song has a really nice kick to it and really does great in helping us to enter into God's presence as we celebrate His awesomeness.
2 - Glorious - Chris Tomlin with Christy Nockels
This song is absolutely amazing and Christy Nockels shines through with her beautiful voice and the song is just wonderful.
3 - Party - Chris Tomlin
I'll be honest that I really don't like this song very much and lyrically... it's pretty much nothing. The song has a great beat though and the Party clap is very addictive...
4 - Jesus Paid It All - Kristian Stanfill
Ever since we sang this at 722, I have loved this version and was really excited to see that it made the CD. There's simply no words to describe this one.
5 - All We Need - Charlie Hall
This song is great live and I really think that all of Charlie's songs have an extra kick of energy when they are used in a large corporate worship setting.
6 - Center - Charlie Hall
This is a wonderful song on "Flying into Daybreak" and as it's done in this large group, it sounds simply amazing. The song is great and then Charlie leads everyone in "Turn Your Eyes" which is quite incredible sounding.
7 - We Are Yours - Charlie Hall
This is a song that was created from the bridge of "Song of the Redeemed" on "Flying into Daybreak." To put it frankly... I don't see any reason to why this needed to be extended into 4 and 1/2 minutes. It sounds cool and all and I love Charlie's stuff, but it's just so repetitive and really does nothing.
8 - You Never Let Go - Matt Redman
Matt's new song (and only offering on the new CD) is great. I've heard it a few times at the two Indescribable Tour dates I saw and this song is a great reminder that God is always there for us no matter what goes on in our lives. I think this song kind of sounds like a sequel of sorts to "Blessed Be Your Name," but I can't complain... it's a great song.
9 - I Stand Amazed (How Marvelous) - Chris Tomlin
This old hymn is one of my favorites and Chris' arrangement is wonderful. I really really really was hoping that this would make the CD and was excited to see that it did and hear how wonderful it sounds.
10 - Everything Glorious - David Crowder Band
This title track stands out as a great song by the Crowder guys. The quote that gets to me everytime is "You make everything glorious and I am yours... what does that make me?"
What an amazing thought about how God views us as His even when we lose our way.
11 - You are my Joy - David Crowder Band
This song is amazing live and the suspense parts of it are great. I'm getting tired, so I'll just finish fast.
12 - We Win - David Crowder Band
This song is just kind of weird live, but it really sounds great on the CD. A surprisingly winning track.
13 - Our God Reigns - EVERYBODY
This seems weird if you don't know what happened at the conference... it's a simple 4 line statement that's repeated for 6 and a half minutes. It's all right and a great way to end the CD, but it just seems that there could be a better way to do things at the end.

I'll have more things to discuss later this week, but I wanted to give a quick look at how great this CD is... until I have time to post again... This update even includes SPRING BREAK which today is sadly the last day of for me. So... there were really only three eventful things that happened over the past few weeks. I went home for an entire week and just kinda relaxed... continuing the theme of this semester... relaxation. The fist exciting thing was that I spent a good amount of time with Gabe and got to have lunch with him on Monday and Friday and dinner on Wednesday. I really learn a lot from Gabe when we get to talk and had a really fun time just hanging out and seeing how things were in his neck of the woods. The second thing that happened is that I went to the new Georgia Aquarium with my roommate, his girlfriend, and her cousin. We had a pretty good time seeing all of the fish... it's a pretty big place... but one thing's for sure... i will NEVER pay for the 4-D movie thing again... that was just terrible. The final thing that happened is that I found out I'm on the PowerPlant West Team again this summer. I already know 3 of my 4 teammates... that's right... we have 5 person teams for P2 this year. Allison is a good friend from church and will be my OM, Gabe Dodd is one of our MCS' and he also plays some rocking drums, Nathan Ray was on my team last year and I can't wait to spend another summer on the road with him. Finally, I don't know my other MCS Lindsay really well yet, but I look forward to getting to know her as we head towards this crazy summer that God is sending us on. My cities are Orlando, Atlanta, Cleveland, Seattle, and Vancouver. This is going to be GREAT!
Well, I just wanted to post these little fun things that happened over the past few weeks. The next three weeks are jam packed, as I have to work for Passion at the house packing 06 CDs over the next week and then I'll be at Thirsty in Alpharetta next Tuesday through Friday. Plus... Hillsong United is at 722 on April 4th. I keep forgetting whether or not I even go to school... j/k... Up until sometime yesterday, I was supposed to have 2 tests today and a 5 page paper due. Now, I've just finished my Human Rights test and it was a beast. 3 essay questions... 2 with 4-6 paragraphs required and 1 with 8-10 paragraphs... and we only had an hour and 15 minutes to do it. My hands feel like they might fall off.
On the bright side, my Dinosaurs test (the class I'm in right now) got moved to Thursday and he is blabbing about some random dinosaur that I could care less about and my HDTV paper for my Emerging Media class is due by Friday night at 11:00 PM. That's right... Spring Break is next week and I've had my Day of Hell 2006 turned into a nice calming day.
Tonight I can't wait for David Nasser to speak at 722. God's really been speaking to me through this series and I'm really excited about hearing the final message in All Access. That and... the new Jadon Lavik, Caedmon's Call, Warren Barfield, and most importantly Shawn McDonald CDs all come out today. Since I have a $50 gift card for Family Christian from Christmas and two Buy One Get One Half Off coupons... I might actually be able to get all four today... that would be sweet....
Until later... I figured that I needed to update what's been going on over the past two days or so. On Wednesday I woke up fairly early and drove over to Alpharetta to the Passion house to work on getting some promotional cards sent out and to watch the first registrations for Passion07 come in. It was a lot of fun. Louie compared it to mission control watching a shuttle take off in his blog, and I have to agree... that was about what it looked like. By the time I left over 2200 people had signed up for the event and the first 1000 spots were gone in 8 minutes and 26 seconds. It was a cool experience to hang out with all of the Passion staff as they marvelled at how fast it happened and just how awesome God is. So, yesterday, I went to class all day and I've been relaxing for the past few hours trying to get ready for a weekend full of studying and writing... I have a written essay midterm and a multiple choice midterm both on Tuesday and a paper due on Thursday... it's gonna be a rough one, but at least Spring Break is less than a week away for me!
BOB-O OUT!

Tuesday, February 28, 2006

So... it's been a week and a half since my last post, and sadly this is just a brief post once again. I just wanted to tell everyone that Passion07 registration starts tomorrow at 12 Noon ET. It will be only $99 for the first 500 people, $109 for the second 500 people, and $119 for everyone until July 15. It's gonna be a great conference and everyone should come! Just wanted to leave that quick reminder/announcement. I'm gonna be at the Passion house all day tomorrow as the first registrations come in, so I might have a fun update tomorrow night!
